Day for Night’s The Black Glove – The Future Is Up In The Air, But It’s Moving Forward

If you haven’t heard, about a month ago Day for Night Games announced their brand-spanking-new independent game The Black Glove, which was showcased to the world via Kickstarter.

Day for Night Games is comprised of various developers from Irrational Games, noted for their work on Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite. The game itself looked pretty damn awesome (check out the trailer below), and the developers were looking for $550,000 to fund the games development. It was a little steep, but if you’d been watching the Kickstarter train for a while you’d know that it’s entirely possible to raise that much money, especially for something like this.

Fast forward a month and a bit, The Black Glove only raised $216,517 – not even half of its goal. Various campaigns tried to spread the word to help the game make it over the line, and the developers even announced PS4, Morpheus and Oculus Rift support to help push for more funds. It didn’t happen, and the writing was on the wall.

The campaign was unsuccessful, and The Black Glove’s life is up in the air right now. The team over at Day for Night has issued a couple of updates after the campaign concluded. Here’s what they said about the future of the game.

“The short answer is that we mean to fight like hell to keep it from being cancelled. We believe in the game and you all have shown you do, too. We’ve received a lot of questions on whether we planned on immediately starting up another fundraising campaign for The Black Glove at a lower fundraising goal… As you know, we’ve been funding The Black Glove entirely out of our own pocket for months while juggling freelance work. We don’t have angel investors or a publisher. We’re pursuing all options, we’re beginning to talk with publishers who have reached out over the last few weeks. We have a few other ideas, as well.”
