Gearbox Software has announced that the Homeworld Remastered Collection will be releasing on Steam on the 25th of February, as well as giving gamers a look at what to expect when they dive back into the series.

Homeworld Remastered Collection includes Homeworld and Homeworld 2, both remastered by Gearbox in cooperation with key members of the original development team and members of the series’ fan community. The collection also includes both original versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 with compatibility updates.

Homeworld received several Game of The Year awards and became a pillar in the way the RTS genre moved forward. “It is a very special and rare thing to see a project so close to your heart not only get re-released, but remastered with such loving care and attention,” said Rob Cunningham, co-founder of Relic Entertainment and original art director on Homeworld. Cunningham later went on to co-found Blackbird Interactive, which is currently working on Homeworld Shipbreakers. “The fact alone is a wonderful privilege for me, but it’s beyond rare to be working on an all-new entry as well! I have been sucked into a bubbling time-vortex hot tub of Homeworld – and I love it.”

Homeworld Remastered Collection launches on the 25th of February on PC through Steam for $34.99. Those who buy the Remastered Collection will also get access to the Homeworld Remastered Steam Multiplayer Beta, and those who pre-order the title will get it at 15% off.
