Microsoft kicked off Monday of E3 in stellar fashion, with some fantastic announcements for fans both young and old. New controllers, the return of Rare titles, Halo 5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider were all on show and definitely did not disappoint.

Halo 5

We were shown quite a bit of both the campaign and multiplayer for Halo 5 Guardians. The drop in, drop out four player cooperative single player mode got a live gameplay demo, and the multiplayer mode warzone was also unveiled.

Halo 5 launches October 27th.

Inafune and ex-Metroid developers have come together to create a new IP exclusive to the Xbox platform. Check out the first details and trailer here!

Xbox One Updates

Backwards compatibility is probably one of the biggest announcements to come out of the press briefing, allowing gamers to play Xbox 360 titles on their Xbox One. The new Elite Controller for the Xbox One is also a huge announcement for competitive players, allowing complete customisation of your controller.

Fallout 4

While a lot of the demo shown was similar to what we saw in the Bethesda conference, Microsoft really took it up a notch by announcing PC mods will be able to be used on Xbox One copies of Fallout 4, a huge step for game creation and modding on consoles. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

After the success of the first PvZ Garden Warfare game, Microsoft have been given the opportunity to show off the sequel to fans, featuring new maps, story, features and classes. You can watch the trailer and read up on the game here.

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is set to release in 2016.

Forza 6

Alongside a sweet Ford GT being lowered from the ceiling, we got a look at some gameplay from Forza Motorsport 6, highlighting dynamic weather and stunning graphics. You can see it for yourself right here.

Forza 6 launches September 15th.

Dark Souls 3

While it was only a glorified tease, Dark Souls 3 was unveiled in a stunningly gothic trailer showing off the world and some creatures from the title. This game is gonna be huge and probably more difficult than ever before, make sure to check out all we know so far right here.

Ubisoft

Ubisoft had a small showing at Microsoft and chose to show off a new Division trailer, as well as announcing a beta for Xbox One in December. Rainbow Six Siege also got some new announcements, including a beta, a new trailer and an Xbox exclusive bonus of Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 with every copy of the game. The ID@Xbox showcase gave us a sizzle reel of the new indie games coming to the Xbox platform, and then gave us an extended look at games like Tacoma and Beyond Eyes. You can check out all the trailers here.

Xbox Game Preview

Microsoft announced a new ‘early access’ service coming to the Xbox One today, with plenty of games on the way as a part of Xbox Game Preview. Elite Dangerous is one of the first games coming to the service, with more details available here.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Crystal Dynamics showed off some new gameplay from the much anticipated Rise of the Tomb Raider, throwing Lara into an icy climb surrounded by dangers like ice, snow and avalanches. The game is looking better and better each time it’s shown, and you can check out the gameplay footage right here.

Rare

Rare had quite a big part in Microsofts briefing, showing off both a new IP in the form of Sea of Thieves, as well as Rare Replay, a collection of 30 classic Rare titles for Xbox One to commemorate their 30th anniversary. This segment was jam packed with nostalgia!

VR, Minecraft & Hololens

Microsoft talked a little about new VR partnerships then went on to show off Minecraft and the Hololens, with a really cool demo showing how it can be implemented into games. We have a full wrap up of all the demos and details right here.

Gears of War

Last but not least, Microsoft gave gears fans two big announcements – the first being the confirmation of the original Gears of War’s remaster, and the second being a gameplay demo for Gears of War 4, which looks very impressive thus far. Gears of War Ultimate Edition also has a multiplayer beta, currently available for download right now.
