In a statement issued this morning Deep Silver have announced that development studio Yager will no longer be developing Dead Island 2. They’ve also parted ways with Yager as a development partner, with more information to come on further production of the title.

The short statement follows:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

Dead Island 2 was originally scheduled for a 2016 release, and while it’s unlikely to meet this launch window after initial delays saw it moved from a 2015 release, we hope to see this game sometime in the near future.
