Well, that didn’t take long.
Natus Vincere’s recent announcement stating they were dropping their Dota 2 team was an understandable but expected announcement last week. But to see them already diving back into the fray was a little quicker than expected.
It has been announced over on the Na’vi website that 2 players will remain and will attempt to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix ultimate. Dota 2 fan favourite Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, and one of old Na’vi’s more recent recruits Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev will be the foundations of the new team, and 3 new players will be brought in on probation to fill in the gaps.
Prior to the last week’s disbandment, the old Na’Vi Dota 2 squad was in dire straights, and many fans felt that a big change was needed. At The International 5 Sonneiko certainly proved himself as a top-notch support player – especially with some magnificent Earthshaker work – he’ll be a great asset to keep on board.
But the remainder of the team had questions over their head, including the loveable Dendi, with some fans stating that he should have been kept out of the new Na’Vi squad. Xboct had also been underperforming, and results started to show during the latter part of the season and then into their unfortunate performance as a team at Ti5.
The question that remains now is who will fill in the gaps? Who’s going to take up the carry position out of the players floating around at the moment in free-agency? Or will we see some completely new names? Post your thoughts in the comments and let me know.
