The next season of Gears of War’s ESL Open Series has been detailed, with the competition expanding to include both Europe and Australia.

The cups will all be in a 4v4 team format, as well as being open to players of all skill levels.

Following the completion of the season, the top four (top eight in NA) seeded teams in each region will face off in the newly-announced Open Series Showdown, a single elimination 4v4 format tournament designed to determine the winner of the season.

Europe

Prize pool: 450 Euros (each series)

Eligible countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Ukraine, Russian Federation, Germany, Great Britain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Cyprus, Switzerland, Iceland, and the United Kingdom.

Europe’s inclusion in this season of the Open Series is massive, with their set of series set to begin on Saturday, February 6 at 2pm CET. Following the first event, each of the series will be played on Sundays for the rest of the season.

The European Open Series Showdown will take place on Sunday, April 3 at 14:00 CET, and will consist of the following prizes, at a total of 1400 Euros:

  • 1st Place Team Prize: 1000 Euros, straightlined weapon skins, Gears eSports swag packages
  • 2nd Place Team Prize: 400 Euros, straightlined weapon skins
  • 3rd & 4th Place Team Prize: Neptune weapon skins and choice of pre-order character

Australia and New Zealand

Prize pool: $425 AUD (each series)

Australia and New Zealand follows the same schedule as Europe for the ESL Open Series, with the first event to begin on Saturday, February 6 at 12:00pm AEDT. Following the Saturday event, the rest of the series will be played on Sundays.

The Open Series Showdown will take place at 12:00pm AEST on Sunday, April 3 with a total prize pool of $1100 AUD:

  • 1st Place Team Prize: $800 AUD, straightlined weapon skins, Gears eSports swag packages
  • 2nd Place Team Prize: $300 AUD, straightlined weapon skins
  • 3rd & 4th Place Team Prize: Neptune weapon skins and choice of pre-order character

North America and Mexico

Prize pool: $500 USD (each series)

Eligible countries: North America, Mexico, Canada

There have been some changes made to this season’s series for North America and Mexico, which will be mostly aligned with the aforementioned regional series. As well as the prize pool for each Open Series Cup set at $500 USD, there’s also a chance to win an Xbox One Elite Controller weekly.

Like the other regions, the first Open Series Cup will begin on Saturday, February 6 at 12:00pm PST. Other Season 2 Open Series Cups will be open for registration here.

North America’s Open Series Showdown will take place on Sunday, April 10 at 12:00pm PST. It’ll have a total prize pool of $2100 USD:

  • 1st Place Team Prize – $1500 USD, straightlined weapon skins, Gears eSports swag packages
  • 2nd Place Team Prize – $500 USD, straightlined weapon skins
  • 3rd Place Team Prize – $100 USD, straightlined weapon skins
  • 4th to 8th Place Team Prizes – Neptune weapon skins and choice of pre-order character
