Overwatch World Cup 2016 announced for BlizzCon 2016
Blizzard has announced the Overwatch World Cup 2016, where national teams from around the world will compete against each other for international glory. The competition starts with player voting and online qualifiers with sixteen teams in total advancing to BlizzCon 2016.
The public will get to vote for players they’d like to see represent their country. The teams will compete in a series of online matches before hitting the BlizzCon 2016 stage. The matches start in September after the voting closes with regions taking part in best-of-three, single-elimination online qualifiers.
Blizzard wants to ensure all major regions are well-represented so here’s a breakdown of the sixteen teams: six from the Europe game region, six from the Asia-Pacific game regions, and four from the Americas
The countries with the (*) will automatically advance to BlizzCon ‘due to a variety of factors, including server locations, regional infrastructure and connectivity, and other geographical considerations’
