Cyberpunk Assassin-fest Tokyo 42 heading to PC and consoles in 2017
Mode 7 and SMAC Games have announced that Tokyo 42, Mode 7’s first game as a publisher, will be heading to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in early 2017.
Inspired by the likes of the original Grand Theft Auto, Tokyo 42 is an “ultra-colourful cyberpunk open-worldly assassin-fest.”
You play as a freelance assassin in a “world where sinister forces are at play,” and, of course, you’ve got to take on some missions to pay your way through the game’s world and story.
The game includes a plethora of features that change up the gameplay, with bullet physics, jumping with air control, sneaky stealth, and crowd simulation said to “play a role in this ultra-colourful kinetic frenzy.”
As well as Tokyo 42’s single-player component, multiplayer also plays a part in the game, with SMAC Games including a “Where’s Wally-slash-Waldo-for-other-terrorists” arena mode where players will attempt to change their skin and blend in with the crowd before “explod[ing] into view with a flurry of overly ambitious rockets.”
Tokyo 42 is set to launch early next year on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and is currently under development at SMAC Games in London with the support of the UK Games Fund.
