Gears of War 4 officially goes gold
Microsoft has announced that The Coalition’s highly-anticipated sequel to one of Xbox’s biggest franchises, Gears of War 4, has officially gone gold.
Celebrating the event, Rod Fergusson, head of The Coalition, said: “This has been a real homecoming for me… Coming back to Xbox to lead a studio of talented people from around the world, all focused on Gears of War, and doing so in my home country of Canada in one of the best cities in the world for technology and entertainment and has been a dream come true.”
“Ten years ago, Gears of War was the killer app that brought millions into the Xbox family,” Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said. “Its combination of innovative technology, unique gameplay, and trademark storytelling changed the game forever.”
Gears of War 4 will be the first Gears title available in the Xbox Play Anywhere program, with it launching on both Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One simultaneously. Further, Gears of War 4 will also support Cross Play across both platforms in all game modes, including Versus, campaign, and Horde 3.0 survival mode.
Going gold, for those who don’t know, means that the gold “master disc” produced from the studio has been send to replication facilities around the world for mass manufacturing.
Gears of War 4 launches on Windows 10 and Xbox One on October 11.
