World of Tanks Blitz set to host its first Global Esports Tournament
Wargaming has announced the Blitz Twister Cup, a World of Tanks Blitz global Esports tournament reserved for clan players.
Announced at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, the tournament will consist of preliminary matches to determine a winner from each region. Afterwards, the four best teams will battle it out in the “ultimate championship battle,” in a “special offline event.”
Registration for the tournament begins soon, and it is advised that eager players keep an eye on the official World of Tanks Blitz portal.
“World of Tanks Blitz is always growing, and the most skilled players out there have been crying out for a bigger challenge,” Andrey Ryabovol, Publishing Product Director of World of Tanks Blitz, said. “This tournament will definitely show the kind of potential the game has in Esports.”
An exclusive tank has also been revealed for World of Tanks Blitz, which has been designed by iconic mocha artist Kunio Okawara. Known as the O-47, this is the first vehicle coming off of the production line of the World of Tanks Blitz Artist Signature Label, which sees Wargaming “team up with famed artists from across the globe to create exclusive tanks.”
“Creating an original tank design for World of Tanks Blitz was a unique and fascinating opportunity,” Okawara said. “The game has lots of fans in Asia and has collaborated with some fantastic anime already. I can’t wait for the players to see it and get to play the tank myself. I hope everyone enjoys this special collaboration.”
World of Tanks Blitz is available to play for free on smartphones, tablets, Windows 10 devices, and Mac OS X.
