Heroes of the Storm 2.0 update is a major revamp: new progression system and more

Blizzard's Heroes gets a major update

Blizzard has released details about it’s upcoming 2.0 update for Heroes of the Storm which revamps the entire game with a new overhauled progression system, loot chests rewards and more.

Here’s a highlighted list of things coming in the Heroes of the Storm 2.0 update:

  • Revamped progression system
  • Loot Chest rewards for all players
  • New currency Gems will replace real money
  • Forge cosmetic items with shards
  • Fun new social and customisation rewards
  • New Hero: Cassia, the Javazon

One of the major changes is the progression and rewards system which acts similarly to Blizzard’s other title: Overwatch. The player cap has been removed which will be transferred into the hero levels; the player level will only increase when you level a hero now. You will also gain a new rewards chest every time you level up one of your heroes making it easier to gain some in-game loot.

The new update will also introduce Cassia from Diablo II, the Amazon Warmatron. The new assassin can be tested in the PTR from today. The full update for Heroes of the Storm 2.0 will go live on 26 April AEST/NZST.
