Overwatch World Cup is back for 2017
Blizzard has announced that Overwatch World Cup is returning for 2017 and it will work differently from last year. Previously, the first World Cup had community voted players with selected countries. This year, Blizzard has revealed a new road map to Worlds by tracking the average skill rating of the top 100 players from each country to determine who gets the cut into Top 32.
Each country that gets into the group stages will have a chance to vote for their community representatives. As a community-driven event, the viewers will vote for the strongest players to represent their country in the World Cup.
The qualifiers will be live events taking place around the world with a series of four live group stages. Each group stage live event will see 8 national teams compete for the top spots at the Blizzcon 2017 finals.
You can track the top countries here – Australia is currently 13th in the world. Last year’s champions; South Korea is currently 1st on the list with China right behind in 2nd.
