Tainted Minds and MindFreak Black secures spots at Call of Duty World Championship 2017

Both teams will join Mindfreak at CWL 2017 in Florida

Over the weekend, 16 APAC teams travelled to the Crown Exhibition Hall in Melbourne fighting for two spots in the Call of Duty World Championship 2017 which Mindfreak has already qualified for.

After winning the last CWL LAN event, the roster which Mindfreak acquired otherwise known as Mindfreak Black were hot favourites to secure a spot at the Call of Duty World Championship 2017. The roster did not disappoint as it clean sweeped the winners bracket beating Victrix eSports, Validate and the recently announced TabooESC.

Another favourite to take the spot at the Call of Duty World Championship 2017 was Tainted Minds with ex-Mindfreak player Cody ‘Excite’ Rugolo part of the roster since the departure of Denholm “Denz” Taylor. During the winner’s bracket, Tainted Minds had a smooth run against Rapid eSports and the recently picked up eRa Eternity Australian roster. They only dropped two maps against Empyre Esports during the bracket but managed to pull out with a win.

In the final championship bracket, Tainted Minds grabs a win and secured a spot at the Call of Duty World Championship 2017 defeating Mindfreak Black 3-2 pushing them down against Empyre Esports whom defeated SYF Gaming 3-1. With a spot on the line, Mindfreak Black clean sweeps Empyre Esports 3-0 to secure a spot at worlds.

With the Last Chance Qualifier finished, both Tainted Minds and Mindfreak Black will join Mindfreak at Call of Duty World Championship 2017 which features a prize pool of $1.5 million in Orlando, Florida this August.
