After a stunning Round 5, it’s time to turn our attention to the second half of the E-League competition. Much like last week’s matches, points are becoming more and more important as we approach the pointy end of the competition, and with the top two facing each other this week we’re in for a cracker.

Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets
PlayStation 4: Zachary May-Burgess (vDreamz-Shooter) vs Bohdan Ling (BLFifa)
Prediction: 2-3

After a big result last week I wouldn’t be surprised to see Newcastle Jets’ BLFifa come through with another huge win in Round 6, though it’s going to be a tough one. Adelaide’s vDreamz-Shooter had a great game against Melbourne City’s joshingwood last week, and this match should be an excellent one. I just have an inkling that the Jets man will scrape by in the end.

Xbox One: Jamie O’Doherty (FUTWIZ Jamie) vs Dane Crow (Bossierhickory8)
Prediction: 3-1

It’s starting to become now or never for Adelaide’s FUTWIZ Jamie and his side, as they currently sit mid-table with a lot of ground to cover to even think of reaching for the top spots on the ladder. He played well last week against City’s Marcus Gomes, and I’m confident he’ll carry through that momentum into this week’s matchup, beating out Bossierhickory8 fairly convincingly.

Predicted Result: Adelaide United to win 5-4 on aggregate.

Central Coast Mariners vs Sydney FC
PlayStation 4: Kiran Gupta (KyrenFIFA) vs Mark Brijeski (xMarkoHD)
Prediction: 1-3

This one should be an absolute cracker. While King Gupta’s winning streak came to a close last week via a fantastic effort from Melbourne Victory’s MuadZwed, we’re still seeing the top two sides pitted against one another, and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to see this end in a goal fest. xMarkoHD still has his undefeated streak going, so it’ll be fascinating to see how this all ends. I’m predicting a win for the Sydney man, this time around, though.

Xbox One: Matthew Camilleri (StrawHat Camels) vs Samer Elbadar (Samer96_)
Prediction: 2-4

Central Coast’s StrawHat Camels played exceptionally well last week to beat Victory’s Mitch Austin fairly convincingly, but he’s coming up against a much tougher opponent this week in Sydney FC’s Samer96_ — who’s looked strong throughout the entire tournament (no pun intended). I think the latter’s ability to hold the ball and play on the counter will be too much to deal with for the Central Coast man, and for Sky Blue to reign this time around.

Predicted Result: Sydney FC to win 7-3 on aggregate.

Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers
PlayStation 4: Josh Wood (joshingwood) vs Rick Tran (RDOUBLETTT)
Prediction: 3-3

Last week we saw a completely different player in Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT — he took the fight to Glory’s Saisanas and beat him convincingly. I’m really intrigued to see how the former does this week, and he’s coming up against a very good player in Melbourne City’s joshingwood. I’d expect a lot of goals here, and wouldn’t be surprised to see the score end in a 3-3 draw when the final whistle is blown.

Xbox One: Marcus Gomes vs Joseph Nassar (OhNoAGoat)
Prediction: 3-1

City’s Marcus Gomes has been on fire of late, and he’ll be disappointed that he didn’t get the win against Adelaide’s FUTWIZ Jamie last week after some big chances were squandered. He’s coming up against a great player in Western Sydney’s OhNoAGoat, who has shown time and time again that he can hold his own against some of the big guns in the league, though I’m not sure if he’ll be able to contain Gomes in this round. I’m looking forward to seeing some big goals in this match, and for it to be decided fairly early on.

Predicted Result: Melbourne City to win 6-4 on aggregate.

Wellington Phoenix vs Brisbane Roar
PlayStation 4: Christian Bartolillo (Fweshest) vs Dino Flocco (Ol_Mate_)
Prediction: 1-1

Both players are coming off of losses last week, and I’m not sure whether either player has shown enough for me to call which one will take this contest! So I’ve gone for a draw here, and I’m expecting a low-goal result. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one — like most of the matchups throughout the last round — explode into goals galore if a few early ones go in.

Xbox One: Justin Josevski (Justmanutd12) vs James Williams (iCripsy)
Prediction: 2-3

After a big win for him personally and his side last week, Phoenix’s Justmanutd12 will be looking to push that momentum forward and give Roar’s Cripsy a real test this week. I think this one will be a tightly fought affair, and, just like most matches, I’m hoping for a few cracking goals and a couple of fantastic passing moves. This one could well likely be decided in the dying moments of the game, and I’m thinking it might just be Cripsy that’ll take the win.

Predicted Result: Brisbane Roar to win 4-3 on aggregate.

Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory
PlayStation 4: Moaud Zwed (MuadZwed) vs Peter Saisanas (Saisanas)
Prediction: 2-1

Glory’s Saisanas will be disappointed after being romped by Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT last week, and he’ll obviously be looking to prove a point this round with a big win over Melbourne Victory’s MuadZwed. However, I just can’t see that happening, and the latter has consistently improved over the E-League’s rounds. He’s gotten much better, and I’m thinking he might win this match. It’ll be a close one, of course, but after an impressive result last week I believe it could be likely.

Xbox One: Mitch Austin vs David Cook (HighFly357)
Prediction: 2-3

After a wonderful match last week against Western Sydney’s OhNoAGoat, Glory’s HighFly357 will be looking to solidify his defence and ensure his quick starts aren’t turned over throughout the duration of the game. He’s coming up against Victory’s Mitch Austin, who has been tremendously unlucky over the last couple of rounds, and will need to start quickly in order to beat him. With all that said, I’m still expecting this one to be a closely fought match, and for HighFly357 to win in the latter stages.

Predicted Result: Both sides to share the points, as it ends 4-4 on aggregate.

So there are my predictions for this week’s round of competitive FIFA 18 action! You can catch all of the games from 7pm AEDT tonight on Twitch or via Fox Sports’ streaming hub online.
