Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group announced earlier this morning that LEGO Dimensions, a new toy-to-life title, will be entering the fray this September.
LEGO Dimensions takes a multitude of unique worlds and throws them all into one massive universe, with DC Comics, The Lord of The Rings, The LEGO Movie, The Wizard of Oz, LEGO Ninjago and Back to The Future all featuring, with many more to be announced in the future.
The game plays on the normal formula of toy-to-life games by also incorporating the idea of building parts before throwing them into the game, which has been the life blood of LEGO from the very beginning.
The Starter Pack for LEGO Dimensions includes the LEGO Toy Pad, which is more-or-less the standard portal to place figures on, bricks to build the LEGO Gateway, the game itself, three LEGO minifigures – those being Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle, as well as the LEGO Batmobile.
There will also be a handful of smaller packs available from launch as well, with the Back to the Future Level Pack being the standout. Other packs confirmed for launch in 2015 include a LEGO Ninjago Team Pack, three Ninjago Fun Packs, two DC Comics Fun Packs, three The Lord of The Rings Fun Packs, four The LEGO Movie Fun packs and a The Wizard of Oz Fun pack. More packs will be announced closer to launch.
LEGO Dimensions will be launching on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U on the 28th of September in Australia, with the Starter Pack retailing for $169.95 at EB Games. You can check out all of the pricing information here.
