Earlier in 2015, professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team iBuyPower were engaged in match-fixing which resulted in ban from the competition. Today, Valve has announced match-fixing is a permanent ban meaning players involved will not be able to be a part of the competitive scene anymore.

“As the scene grows, it’s an unfortunate reality that some individuals will seek opportunities to take advantage of their fans. We will continue to take whatever action we think is necessary to protect the entertainment value created by professional Counter-Strike, including, on occasion, terminating our relationship with individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to exploit their fans’ faith in the integrity of the sport.”

This is a pretty fair call from Valve and as professional Counter-Strike is on a high level in the esports market, issues like this need to be dealt accordingly to retain its integrity. You can read the full statement here.
