After a blockbuster first round of the inaugural E-League it’s time to set our sights on Round 2, which is scheduled to kick off tonight at 8pm AEDT.

This week’s rounds pits some of the competition’s best players against one another, as well as including the first ever E-League Sydney Derby. By all accounts, it should be an excellent night of competitive FIFA action.

For a quick catch up, here’s the current standings prior to Round 2 kicking off:

Here’s every match taking place this round:

Central Coast Mariners vs Wellington Phoenix
PlayStation 4: Kiran Gupta (KyrenFIFA) vs Christian Bartolillo (Fweshest)
Prediction: 2-2

KyrenFIFA is coming off a massive win after last week’s 75th minute strike that gave his team all three points for the round, while Fweshest watched his side dismantled by Perth Glory’s Peter Saisanas in a huge 6-2 defeat. That said, I think both players will come into the game with a point to prove, and at the end of the day it’ll end 2-2.

Xbox One: Matthew Camilleri (StrawHat Camels) vs Justin Josevski (Justmanutd12)
Prediction: 2-3

Everyone was in disbelief when Wellington Phoenix’s Justmanutd12 pulled out a sensational volley, courtesy of Ruud Gullit, to win his match in the 90th minute against Perth Glory’s David Cook. Similarly, Central Coast’s StrawHat Camels managed to score at the same time in his own match, drawing 2-2 with one of the competition’s favourites — Adelaide’s Jamie O’Doherty. This match in particular will be interesting to watch, with both players come off the back of positive results for their respective sides, but I think Justmanutd12 will edge it 3-2 in a closely contested encounter.

Predicted Result: Wellington Phoenix to win 5-4 on aggregate

Brisbane Roar vs Newcastle Jets
PlayStation 4: Dino Flocco (ol_Mate_) vs Bohdan Ling (BLfifa)
Prediction: 1-0

Brisbane’s ol_Mate_ came close to costing his team the three points last week, with an inspired effort from Melbourne Victory’s MaudZwed pushing the game to breaking point with minutes to spare. He managed to hold on, though, ending his match in a 2-1 defeat but winning 4-3 on aggregate thanks to Cripsy’s 3-1 victory over Mitch Austin. It’s hard to predict how newcomer BLfifa will go, considering he missed last week, but I think ol_Mate_ has the advantage — knowing the environment and having the experience to see out the match 1-0.

Xbox One: James Williams (iCripsy) vs Dane Crow (Bossierhickory8)
Prediction: 3-2

You have to hand it to Bossierhickory8 after his effort last week, having to play for the Jets in both the PlayStation and Xbox divisions while his teammate was away. He performed admirably, too, and could have won the Xbox fixture against Western Sydney Wanderers’ OhNoAGoat even though he was a man down for 60 in-game minutes. That never came to fruition, though, and his Jets side are currently sitting at bottom place on the ladder, so I think we’ll see a very positive response from him against the Roar’s iCripsy. When the final whistle goes, however, I think iCripsy will be the one taking the win after his excellent result last week, and his form going into this round.

Predicted Result: Brisbane Roar to win 4-2 on aggregate

Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United
PlayStation 4: Mouad Zwed (MuadZwed) vs Zachary May-Burgess (vDreaMz-Shooter)
Prediction: 2-1

Victory’s MuadZwed put up an incredible fight against Brisbane’s ol_Mate_ last week, and almost sparked an entire aggregate turnaround to see his side take all three points. It didn’t come, though, but he did win the game, and I think he’ll be confident going into the match against Adelaide’s vDreamz-Shooter, who lost to KyrenFIFA. Expect to see some goals here.

Xbox One: Mitch Austin (ALCATRAZZ_2025) vs Jamie O’Doherty (FUTWIZ Jamie)
Prediction: 1-4

Mitch Austin proved a lot of doubters wrong last week with his effort against iCripsy. And while he went down 3-1 he was in the game for large portions of the match, and I think that’ll continue on in his match against FUTWIZ Jamie. That said, Jamie’s one of the favourites to take out the competition, and I would be surprised to see him lose this match especially after the disappointing result last week. He knows he has to improve, and I expect to see that against Mitch Austin.

Predicted Result: Adelaide to win 5-3 on aggregate

Perth Glory vs Melbourne City
PlayStation 4: Peter Saisanas (Saisanas) vs Josh Wood (joshingwood)
Prediction: 4-4

I expect to see a lot of goals in this one, considering both players scored a few crackers (as well as conceding a few) last week. Perth Glory’s Saisanas should be the favourite to take this one out after an excellent 6-2 win in the first round of the competition, but Melbourne City’s joshingwood proved he isn’t a pushover against one of the best in the competition in Sydney FC’s Mark Brijeski, coming back from 3-0 down to end up narrowly losing 4-3. Goals galore is my prediction here, with both teams to share the points when the final whistle blows.

Xbox One: David Cook (HighFly357) vs Marcus Gomes (SoccerStar007777)
Prediction: 2-4

I just can’t see this one going HighFly357’s way, unfortunately. Melbourne City’s Marcus Gomes had a poor game last week against Sydney’s Samer96_, but I very much doubt we’d see a repeat of that and I’m fully expecting him to take the win for his side. However, if HighFly357 can play anything like Samer96_ did — with an attitude to stick in with defence and put everything on the line to not concede — then I wouldn’t be surprised to see him salvage a result. That said, going into the match I just can’t see that happening for now!

Predicted Result: Melbourne City to win 8-6 on aggregate

Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers
PlayStation 4: Mark Brijeski (xMarkoHD) vs Rick Tran (RDOUBLETTT)
Prediction: 4-2

Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT had a relatively easy match up against Bossierhickory8 last week, with the latter covering for BLfifa while he was away and couldn’t play. I don’t think that’ll be the case again this week, with one of the competition favourites in Sydney FC’s Mark Brijeski being quite the formidable opponent. I expect to see some tiki-taka football once again from the Sydney FC man, and for the result to end up in the Sky Blues’ favour.

Xbox One: Samer Elbadar (Samer96_) vs Joseph Nassar (OhNoAGoat)
Prediction: 2-0

Last week, both of these players were in fascinating conundrums. Sydney FC’s Samer96_ was resolute in defence against one of the best players in the comp, whereas Western Sydney Wanderers’ OhNoAGoat couldn’t find himself a goal against a team with a man down for a good portion of the match. If you were to analyse those performances, you’d think Samer96_ has the advantage going into this match, and I’d agree. Both players enjoy possession-based football, and I’m expecting to see some great FIFA in this one in particular. When all’s said and done, I expect Samer96_ to take the win.

Predicted Result: Sydney FC to win 6-2 on aggregate

This should be a great week of E-League action, with the first E-League Sydney Derby included as well. If the first round was anything to go off, expect to see lots of goals, some great passing play, and a lot of banter.

You can catch all of the games from 8pm AEDT on Twitch or via FOX Sports’ streaming hub online.
