We’re already two rounds into the FFA’s E-League, and this week is shaping up to be another excellent round of competition with the first Melbourne derby to take place, alongside a chance for the top teams to establish a bigger lead over the trailing pack.

Here’s every match happening this round, alongside my predictions:

Melbourne City vs Melbourne Victory
PlayStation 4: Josh Wood (joshingwood) vs Moaud Zwed (MuadZwed)
Prediction: 1-2

Both players had disappointing results last week, and I think it’ll be down to who starts the better in this one. I wouldn’t surprised to see Victory’s MuadZwed — who is filling in on the Xbox One side for his team this week too, as Mitch Austin is away — pull a good result out of this one.

Xbox One: Marcus Gomes vs Moaud Zwed (MuadZwed)
Prediction: 3-0

After a wonderful performance last week that catapulted his Melbourne City side to their first win of the comp, I’d expect to see Marcus Gomes take the win against Victory’s MuadZwed with relative ease, considering the latter is playing on a console he isn’t as familiar with. I fully expect Marcus to continue the momentum he got from last week’s big result and pull his Melbourne City side to another win in Round 3.

Overall Prediction: Melbourne City to win 4-2 on aggregate

Newcastle Jets vs Sydney FC
PlayStation 4: Bohdan Ling (BLFifa) vs Mark Brijeski (xMarkoHD)
Prediction: 2-4

Newcastle Jets’ BLFifa showed in Round 2 that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the E-League, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him put on a real contest against one of the tournament favourites in Sydney FC’s xMarkoHD. That said, Mark is coming off of two very good wins and I don’t see him losing any time soon. Expect some goals, some great passing play, and a big result for whoever wins this one.

Xbox One: Dane Crow (Bossierhickory8) vs Samer Elbadar (Samer96_)
Prediction: 2-2

Both players played relatively well last week, though neither won their game. Sydney FC’s Samer96_ blew a big lead, and I expect him to come back with a point to prove this week. Similarly, I’d expect a big performance from Bossierhickory8, who pushed Brisbane Roar’s iCripsy all the way to the final whistle last week. In the end, I see this one ending as a draw.

Overall Prediction: Sydney FC to win 6-4 on aggregate

Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United
PlayStation 4: Dino Flocco (Ol_Mate_) vs Zachary May-Burgess (vDreamz-Shooter)
Prediction: 2-3

Adelaide’s vDreamz-Shooter got a big win last week and it helped his side take the full three points in Round 2, and I expect that momentum to continue as he takes on Roar’s Ol_Mate_ this week. I think this will be a close match, but Dreamz has been a little more clinical in front of goal so far in the competition and that could prove to be key.

Xbox One: James Williams (iCripsy) vs Jamie O’Doherty (FUTWIZ Jamie)
Prediction: 2-2

A friendly rivalry that’s been growing since day one! This match has all the makings of being an absolute cracker, and I think we’ll end up seeing a match full of big chances and a few big misses along the way. A draw makes the most sense to me here, unless one of the guys pulls out a  wonder goal in the final few minutes of the match.

Overall Prediction: Adelaide United to win 5-4 on aggregate

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Wellington Phoenix
PlayStation 4: Rick Tran (RDOUBLETTT) vs Christian Bartolillo (Fweshest)
Prediction: 3-2

This match has all the makings of being an excellent one, too, with two great players pitted up against one another with a point to prove. Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT played really well last week against Sydney FC’s xMarkoHD, though he was unlucky not to get anything out of it. I think he’ll come out in this round and try and dominate the possession game and take it to Phoenix’s Fweshest, who has yet to register a win in the comp so far. It should be a tight one with lots of chances, but I see Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT nabbing the win after all is said and done.

Xbox One: Joseph Nassar (OhNoAGoat) vs Justin Josevski (Justmanutd12)
Prediction: 5-3

I also expect this one to be a great game, with Western Sydney’s OhNoAGoat conjuring up a wonderful comeback victory last week to beat Sydney FC’s Samer96_ 4-3. Goals should be on the menu for this match in particular, and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to see defence thrown to the wayside for more attacking-focused play.

Overall Prediction: Western Sydney Wanderers to win 8-5 on aggregate

Perth Glory vs Central Coast Mariners
PlayStation 4: Peter Saisanas (Saisanas) vs Kiran Gupta (KyrenFIFA)
Prediction: 3-1

While Central Coast Mariners’ KyrenFIFA played wonderfully last week, bagging an important win for his team and sending his side to the top of the table, I just can’t see him beating Perth Glory’s Saisanas, who has been on fire. He’s a second half magician, and another showing from his beloved Thierry Henry card could well and truly be the catalyst for a big win.

Xbox One: David Cook (HighFly357) vs Matthew Camilleri (StrawHat Camels)
Prediction: 3-3

Perth Glory’s HighFly357 must have been extremely disappointed in himself after letting Marcus Gomes get a huge win over him. I feel like he’ll come into this match with a big point to prove and play extremely aggressively against Central Coast Mariners’ StrawHat Camels, and it should be a great contest to watch. I don’t see either player finding the win, though, and for this one to end in a draw.

Overall Prediction: Perth Glory to win 4-2 on aggregate

This week should continue to see players get into the groove of the competition and play some fantastic FIFA. It’s a shame Mitch Austin is away for the first E-League Melbourne Derby, too, but not much can be done! That said, I’m excited for more E-League action and can’t wait to watch it all unfold.

You can watch all the action live from Thursday 8pm AEDT on Twitch or via Fox Sports’ dedicated streaming hub online.
