Azubu an esports broadcasting network has acquired Europe’s Hitbox to increase and improve its reach with the esports livestream community. This acquisition will create a stronger competitor to Twitch which amazon had acquired in 2014 for $970 million. Hitbox will continue to exist separately to take care of the users and partners while providing the necessary tools to create interactive broadcasts. Azubu and Hitbox will launch a new livestream platform optimised for mobile user experience and monetization to go beyond the boundaries of live-streaming games.
“Today, I am happy to announce that we have been acquired by Azubu. This might come as a surprise to many of you. But I can assure this is a great opportunity. We chose Azubu because with them we can continue to do what we love most: create great technology for gamers and esports fans. Azubu’s new CEO Mike McGarvey and his team share our values and long term vision and they believe in the community as we do.” – Martin Klimscha, Hitbox co-founder & CEO.
