Following the Snapchat tease earlier this week, Treyarch and Activision have officially announced that the next Call of Duty is indeed Black Ops 3.

There’s not much information on the game yet, although the teaser trailer does mention David Mason – the main protagonist in Black Ops 2. It’s very likely we can expect to see him returning in some way or another in the third game, perhaps as the protagonist once again. This also confirms that Black Ops 3 will be set in a futuristic setting like both Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 2, as well.

Furthermore, Black Ops 3 will have the trio of Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies modes we’ve come to expect from Treyarch’s Call of Duty games. The game is set in “a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldiers emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare.”

The full reveal of Black Ops 3 will be on the 27th of April (26th in the US), where we should learn a lot more about Treyarch’s next instalment in the franchise.
