The Chiefs has taken out the 2016 League of Legends Oceanic Pro League (OPL) which was held on Saturday night at the Courier-Mail Piazza in Brisbane. Going 3-0 in a clean sweep against Legacy Esports, the Chiefs became champions for the 2nd season in a row.
“I think we really showed why we deserved to be the number one seed coming out of Oceania and this is probably the best opportunity that we’ve ever had to show on an international stage that we’re more than capable to make it to Worlds,” said Simon ‘Swiffer’ Papamarkos, Chiefs Captain.
The Chiefs will embark on another International Wild Card Qualifiers (IWCQ) which is being held in Sao Paulo, Brazil this year. The best teams from Brazil, Russia, Japan, Latin America, Turkey and Southeast Asia will face off with our Oceanic team, The Chiefs to determine who will go to the 2016 World Championships.
“We want to come in the top two at IWCQ as making it to Worlds has always been our dream as an organisation and as individuals,” added Simon.
