Announced on the Epic Games website, the company will provide a massive $100 million dollars into Fortnite Esports Tournament prize pools it’s first year of competitive play. While details have been minimal about Epic’s move into the esports space with Fortnite, the company has said their “approach will be different – we plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.”

The $100 million prize pool funding has been announced for the 2018 – 2019 season but no date has been announced. Epic Games will announce competitive structures and eligible platforms soon. This will be Fortnite’s first official push into the esports realm so we’re curious to see how they’ll pull it off.
