ESL Australia has announced a brand new esports competition called the ESL ANZ Championship which features Counter-Strike Global Offensive, HearthStone and Halo 5: Guardians.

The ESL ANZ Championship will be spread across two seasons with season one featuring an online qualifier and finals that will lead into a live audience finals at ESL Australia’s studio in Sydney. The competition will feature a $50,000 AUD prize pool this year with the team working together with ESEA to utilize ESEA’s market leading anti-cheat platform for CSGO.

“It’s an awesome thing to see esports moving along at great pace in this region, and even better to be helping drive things forward. The ESL ANZ Championship will bring with it a mix of great competition and live production not yet seen outside publisher events. We’re proud to lift the prestige of ANZ esports for the currently selected titles and aim to expand this program to more titles over time. I look forward to seeing this scene continue to grow!” Nick Vanzetti – Managing Director of ESL Australia.

This is great news for the local scene as we can experience more of the ever growing Counter-Strike Global Offensive and see titles like Hearthstone and Halo 5 be featured more within our local scene.
