ESL has teamed up with SLIVER.tv and WonderWorld VR to announce that the upcoming ESL One New York will be live-streamed in virtual reality. Previously, viewers could only watch recorded clips VOD, rather than live content in Virtual Reality.

“We’re very excited to launch our very first VR live stream from ESL One New York with the help of SLIVER.tv and WonderWorld.” said Stuart Ewen, Product Manager ESL.

“This new method of broadcasting gives viewers a taste of what it’s like to be in the arena at an esports mega event, and a brand new perspective on top level CS:GO through in-game virtual cameras. Esports helped pioneer online video streaming, and we couldn’t be more proud to take the next step into the future of broadcast media with this initiative.”

The company has announced that it will be available in a ‘platform agnostic’ method. You can watch it on the HTC Vive, Samsung Gear, Google Cardboard, or Oculus Rift headsets or if you don’t have one, you can watch it on the SLIVER.tv IOS or Android app in 360 video.

ESL One New York starts from October 1st to 2nd 2016 @ 11AM EST, for more information – click here. Below is a sample video in 360 so you can test out what the immersion will be like. Slap on that Google Cardboard and try it out now:
