With only three rounds of regular competition left in the inaugural FIFA 18 E-League, things are really starting to heat up. Sydney FC and Central Coast remain favourites to clinch 1st and 2nd place, whereas other positions on the ladder are well and truly up for grabs. Now’s the time for players to start hitting form, and this week’s set of games should prove to be very interesting.

Perth Glory vs Sydney FC
PlayStation 4: Peter Saisanas (Saisanas) vs Mark Brijeski (xMarkoHD)
Prediction: 1-3

Glory’s Saisanas played well last week, outclassing Melbourne Victory’s MuadZwed with relative ease. He’s got arguably the toughest player in the PlayStation 4 division this week, though, who has yet to lose a single game throughout the whole competition. As such, I just can’t see him trouncing Sydney FC’s xMarkoHD, who has been in fine form of late and is clinical in front of goal.

Xbox One: David Cook (HighFly357) vs Samer Elbadar (Samer96_)
Prediction: 2-2

After some defensive mishaps in the last couple of rounds for Glory’s HighFly357, I think this will be his big moment to show that he’s learned from those mistakes. Central Coast’s StrawHat Camels showed last week that Sydney FC’s Samer96_ has some weaknesses in his game, and I expect this one to end as a 2-2 draw.

Aggregate Prediction: Sydney FC to win 5-3 on aggregate.

Adelaide United vs Wellington Phoenix
PlayStation 4: Zachary May-Burgess (vDreamz-Shooter) vs Christian Bartolillo (Fweshest)
Prediction: 2-0

vDreamz-Shooter has been playing really well of late, and will be disappointed that he didn’t grab the win last week against Jets’ BLFifa. Both vDreamz and Fweshest finished their Round 6 games with 3-3 draws, though I don’t expect this one to be as open as their games last week, with a bigger focus on defence this time around. I think Dreamz has the upper hand here, and should be able to close out the game if he scores early on and asserts pressure from there.

Xbox One: Jamie O’Doherty (FUTWIZ Jamie) vs Justin Josevski (Justmanutd12)
Prediction: 3-2

This one’s going to be a fascinating one to watch play out, as Adelaide United’s FUTWIZ Jamie is finally coming off of a very positive win. Meanwhile, Phoenix’s Justmanutd12 played really well against Roar’s Cripsy last week. Both players will be coming in with a point to prove as we head into the finals series, though I think it’ll only be decided by one goal — with that goal to come from FUTWIZ Jamie.

Aggregate Prediction: Adelaide United to win 5-2 on aggregate.

Brisbane Roar vs Central Coast Mariners
PlayStation 4: Dino Flocco (Ol_Mate_) vs Kiran Gupta (KyrenFIFA)
Prediction: 0-2

King Gupta has been in a bit of a rut of late, but has been one of the main reasons as to why Central Coast Mariners are sitting pretty in second place on the ladder. His opponent, Roar’s Ol_Mate_, is yet to win a game in the comp, and it’s hard to predict anything but a KyrenFIFA win. It’ll be a close one, I feel, but the quality will show overtime and the Central Coast man should get the victory.

Xbox One: James Williams (iCripsy) vs Matthew Camilleri (StrawHat Camels)
Prediction: 1-0

It’s been a tough few weeks for Roar’s Cripsy, though his match against Mariners’ StrawHat Camels can prove to be one for him to readjust and get back on track. Both players are well matched here and I think it’ll only come down to a single goal that’ll decide it — I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cripsy with that winner.

Aggregate Prediction: Central Coast Mariners to win 2-1 on aggregate.

Melbourne Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers
PlayStation 4: Moaud Zwed (MuadZwed) vs Rick Tran (RDOUBLETTT)
Prediction: 2-2

After a cracking round 5 a couple of weeks ago for Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT, he was thrown back to the wayside after a big defeat to Melbourne City’s joshingwood last week. He’s going to want to see this as an opportunity — against Victory’s MuadZwed — to get things back on the right track. That said, Mo was fantastic last week in both legs, and I’m feeling like a high-scoring draw between the two is likely.

Xbox One: Moaud Zwed (MuadZwed) vs Joseph Nassar (OhNoAGoat)
Prediction: 2-3

Another close contest for Mo this week, as he substitutes in again for Mitch Austin, will pit him against a very, very good Xbox player in OhNoAGoat. The latter has been one of the most consistent players in the competition so far, and I believe a single goal is likely to be the difference between the two. Mo showed last week that he was comfortable on both consoles, so this match should be a fascinating one to watch.

Aggregate Prediction: Western Sydney Wanderers to win 5-4 on aggregate.

Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City
PlayStation 4: Bohdan Ling (BLFifa) vs Josh Wood (joshingwood)
Prediction: 2-1

This one should be a very good contest, as both players have shown some serious promise over the duration of their time in the E-League. Melbourne City’s joshingwood played exceptionally well to nullify all of the momentum Western Sydney’s RDOUBLETTT had after coming in from a huge win in round 5 last week, whereas Jets’ BLFifa played out a very entertaining 3-3 draw with Adelaide’s vDreamz-Shooter. With all that said, I’m expecting a big win from BLFifa this week, pipping City’s joshingwood by a single goal to nab the victory for his side.

Xbox One: Dane Crow (Bossierhickory8) vs Marcus Gomes
Prediction: 0-3

Coming off of a tough defeat, Jets’ Bossierhickory8 will be trying to find a way to get a good result out of this competition! The going’s only getting tougher for him, though, as he comes up against Melbourne City’s Marcus Gomes — one of the best players in the competition. However, Gomes is also coming off of a defeat last week, though he’s proven time and time again throughout the E-League that he responds to disappointing results in big ways. As such, I’m expecting a fairly one-sided contest in this bout, unfortunately.

Aggregate Prediction: Melbourne City to win 4-2 on aggregate.
