Sad news today as Gfinity Australia has announced that it’ll be closing it’s doors this November after the delivery of their Gfinity Supercars Eseries. After two and a half years of operation, the company that brought you the local city-based esports competition and more will cease operation citing that “the esports market in Australia has no developed to the level forecast when the company was launched in 2017.”

“The decision to close the business was not taken lightly” as quoted by Garry Cook, Executive Chairman of Gfinity PLC in a press release issued out today. Despite the news of its closure, the company will continue to deliver the upcoming Gfinity Supercars Eseries.

Dominic Remond, Chief Executive Officer of Gfinity Esports Australia has said

“We would like to thank all of our stakeholders and the Australian esports community for their support over the last few years. This is a very difficult announcement for our staff. We will continue our obligations to our existing partners, including Supercars with the upcoming Gfinity Supercars Eseries, and deliver outstanding events until we close later this year.”
