ArenaNet has announced Guild Wars 2’s first expansion, Heart of Thorns. Officially announced at PAX South, Heart of Thorns will be making some fine adjustments to the Guild Wars 2 experience.

The expansion has a reimagined progression with the new Mastery system, which enables training opportunities for those above level 80. New quests are introduced in the Maguuma Jungle and there will also be new enemies to battle through the open world jungle maps, new group content, new events and storylines as well as new boss battles.

There are new specializations which will unlock access to a weapon previously unavailable to your profession as well as new traits, skills, and unique mechanics – all having the ability to change your selected profession into something new. There’s a new profession known as the Revenant as well. Heavily armored and equipped with otherworldly powers of the mists, reign down power to take out your foes. Lastly, guild halls will be able to be created in Maguuma and a stronghold game mode will enable you to take on PvP and compete to be the best of the best at the top of the leaderboards.

A release date is yet to be announced for Heart of Thorns, with more information expected to be available soon. You can check out all of the info on the expansion here.
