Things just haven’t been going smoothly for 343’s Halo collection. From launch, gamers have struggled to enjoy the multiplayer component of the game thanks to matchmaking that just hasn’t worked the way it was intended, with problems still ongoing.

In December, 343 announced early adopters of the game would be receiving a free download of Halo 3: ODST as part of the games post-launch DLC when it drops sometime this year, although a date hasn’t been set in stone for its arrival. As well as that, Halo 2‘s Relic map is coming to the collection and gamers will also be receiving a game nameplate and avatar. Now, 343 have announced that players who have at least tried the game before December 19 will be getting an extra month of Xbox Live Gold as another apology from the team.

For those of you that have played the game before December 19, you’ll be receiving a message from Xbox Live shortly to confirm the bonus has been applied.

A new matchmaking update is also inbound once more and will be available in the next couple of days. Patch notes supplied here. Here’s hoping things start going a little smoother for Chief’s multiplayer escapades shortly.
