The Hi-Rez Oceania Mid-Year Finals was held at the CyberGamer Studios in Adelaide, Australia over the weekend where the best SMITE and Paladins teams battle it out to claim top spot and a share of the $35,000 total prize pool.
SMITE: Top Seed LG Dire Wolves defeated by Legacy
Going up against LG Dire Wolves in their first match, Dark Sided had a tough job upfront in the SMITE OPL Split 2 Finals after qualifying for LAN in the OPL gauntlet. Losing out against the OCE champions, Dark Sided managed to secure 3rd place against Kanga Esports whom was defeated by Legacy 3-0 in their first match in the finals.
As hot favourites to take out the split, LG Dire Wolves lost the grand final series in a shocking upset against Legacy Esports going 3-1 losing their position as OCE champions.
Paladins: Kanga Esports qualifies for Dreamhack
Paladins OCE champion Kanga Esports has secured a spot at the upcoming Paladins Masters at Dreamhack after defeating Kings 4-1. Despite winning a map against the champions, Kanga proved too strong and will represent oceania on the international stage.
Paladins Masters at Dreamhack Valencia features a $100,000 prize pool and will take place from July 13th – July 16th. The event will feature 8 teams with Kanga Esports taking on teams from NA and EU.
