Cliff Bleszinski’s Boss Key Productions has announced some new details in the upcoming shooter Lawbreakers changing the business model and will hit Steam exclusively.
Lawbreakers which was previously revealed as a free-to-play title will now be released as a digital premium product. The game will have a set price on launch but the Cliff has said “LawBreakers will not have the $60 price point of a traditional boxed product” and will be available at a ‘”compelling price”.
He has also addressed the reasoning behind the change in business model citing “As the game continued to take shape, we realized free-to-play wasn’t the right fit for what we’re building,” and “LawBreakers is a competitive game at heart and that means balance is a big priority to me, my team, and our community. Using a digital premium model helps ensure an even playing field by giving fans access to every available role without any barriers.”
The game will also launch exclusively on Steam now but the team has also somewhat hinted the game could come to additional (possibly) console platforms in the future.
The Steam Store page is up for Lawbreakers which you can add to your wishlist now for any updates to the game and future tests and betas.
