Over the weekend, a new version of Minecraft was announced, titled Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, which is coming on July 29 alongside Windows 10’s release.

The new version of Minecraft will be shipped in the beta stage and will be shaped through community feedback and input just like the original version of Minecraft was. You’ll be able to do everything the original Minecraft does, as well as play online and local multiplayer with Minecraft Pocket Edition players, use your controller, touch gestures or regular keyboard and mouse input to control the game, and record and share gameplay highlights with a built-in GameDVR.

There’s no notable graphical enhancements to speak of with the Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft, but considering it’s going to support cross-play between the Pocket Edition version of the game as well as the regular PC multiplayer component, that’s at least understandable.

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta launches on July 29 alongside the long-awaited release of Windows 10 and will be free for those with the PC version of Minecraft already, otherwise it’ll be $10 during the beta period.
