The Chiefs Esports Club vs Tectonic

The first series of the week is the last look we get at the Chiefs before they join the two teams playing next in Dire Wolves and Legacy in Rift Rivals. Tectonic have been up and down the past two weeks, as we saw them take down ORDER in the upset of the year while crumbling against defending champions Dire Wolves. Tectonic are still hunting for their second win of the split, while the Chiefs have looked in impressive form with 3 games on the trot, two of them were 2-0s, Bombers providing the only challenge taking a single game. The two teams clashed twice in Split 1, and twice it went to script as the 4-time OPL champs cleanly swept the Kiwi team.

Tectonic are yet to take a game off the Chiefs this year, and I’m sure the boys in blue have every intention of keeping that record intact. For that to happen, they’re going to have to continue to maintain pressure in those first minutes. Tectonic took advantage of clean rotations and jungle pressure when they took down ORDER, so those first minutes are crucial. The Chiefs should also be looking to teamfight, utilising Destiny’s Alistar in conjunction with something spicy from Raes, as well as, putting Swip3rR on Gnar or Camille. With this, Chiefs should be easily able to wipe out most team comps that Tectonic can put together, the exception being creative team comps in this fiesta of a meta.

However, for Tectonic to have a chance, Sybol is going to have to pressure the Chiefs’ jungle and outplay Babip. If Tectonic’s jungler can invade Babip’s jungle and force him out, the door is wide open for ganks, especially if he moves for something like Sejuani. Shok in the midlane could throw ry0ma off if he pulls something unconventional out like his Urgot, and coupling that with jungle pressure could provide the window that Tectonic need to claim their second scalp. This has the potential to not be as clear cut as it looks, but any sane man would pick the Chiefs to take this one out.
