The Major is any Counter-Strike fan’s favourite occasion as viewers are delighted to witness the world’s best talent come together to compete in the most prestigious event that Valve has to offer.

In this article I look to dissect this upcoming event as well as hear a few voices around the Respawn Ninja office to see who they believe will claim victory on the final day of the ELEAGUE Major.

Beginning on January 22nd the ELEAGUE Major will feature a somewhat yet to be tested Swiss format system which pairs winners against winners and likewise with losers until a final eight participants are found. From this point onward teams will compete in a playoff bracket until a final champion is crowned and awarded the lions share of $500,000 USD from the total prizepool of $1,000,000 USD.

The competing teams are as follows:

  • Gambit Esports
  • Astralis
  • Liquid
  • Natus Vincere
  • fnatic
  • Virtus.pro
  • SK Gaming
  • FlipSid3 Tactics
  • North
  • OpTic Gaming
  • GODSENT
  • Team EnVyUs
  • FaZe Clan
  • G2 Esports
  • HellRaisers
  • mousesports

Office Predictions

“SK Gaming has always been my favorite team. They won the last Major and to kick off 2017 – they’ll be my pick to take the ELEAGUE Major in Atlanta.”

— Agus, Respawn Ninja Founder

“My bottom dollar is going on Virtus.pro. They’ve always had a place in my heart and this time they’re gonna bring home the goods; class over skill.”

— vDeadline, Respawn Ninja Freelancer
