Razer has launched their OSVR HDK 2 VR Headset in Australia and New Zealand – coming in at only $649.95 AUD / $699.95 NZD which is priced cheaper than its competitors, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
The Razer OSVR HDK 2 VR Headset features a 90Hz OLED, RGB dual-display with a total resolution of 2160×1200 (1080p per eye) which is the same resolution as the HTC Vive / Oculus Rift. While the headset is powered by the OSVR software, you can still play SteamVR content (VR content developed for the HTC Vive) and WebVR/360 content.
Christopher Mitchell, OSVR Lead from Razer has mentioned “The HDK 2 is engineered to deliver a visual experience on par with the industry’s best while keeping it at a more affordable cost point in order to bring VR technology to more people.”
“It will now also give developers and enthusiasts within the Asia Pacific the freedom to innovate and support a myriad of VR technologies across the world.”
The Razer’s OSVR HDK 2 VR Headset is available now on the RazerStore and if you’re keen to try one out – Razer will be demoing the units at PAX Australia 2016 in Melbourne this November.
