ESL Australia has announced that St. George Bank has partnered with the esports company for the ANZ National Championships.

The partnership sees St. George as the first bank in Australia to partner with an esports provider. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s one of the first companies that has no direct business in the gaming and computing sector to support competitive gaming.

“We’re really excited to be the first bank to jump on board this fantastic partnership with ESL Australia. We are seeing a large and growing number of St.George customers embrace online games every month. Even in my household, it’s not just the kids playing and watching online games. Gaming connects all generations and St.George is proud to support this emerging trend and be part of the esports community.”  Ross Miller, the General Manager of Retail Banking at St. George

Nick Vanzetti, Managing Director of ESL Australia has also mentioned “We are delighted to bring St.George on board with us as the inaugural Presenting Partner of our ESL AU & NZ Championship. Recognition of esports within Australia has progressed as the audience has grown immensely in recent years, and the support of an organisation such as St.George is a key milestone on the journey of esports within the region.”

With gaming companies related to the sector usually supporting esports (which is still awesome) – it’s definitely good to see more outside the market sector to get involved which helps showcase and build the recognition competitive highly deserves.

Season Two of the ESL ANZ Championship presented by St. George kicks off tonight with the broadcast of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. You can check it out here from 7PM AEST on Twitch TV.
