Overwatch Contenders team, Sydney Drop Bears has announced that Kelsey “Colourhex” Birse will be transferring to Boston Uprising (OWL) Academy team Toronto Esports with hopes of getting promoted into the Overwatch League roster. After a phenomenal split with the Sydney Drop Bears, Colourhex has caught the attention of foreign scouts and will be playing his last games with the Australian organisation tomorrow in the Overwatch Contenders Finals at the Melbourne Esports Open.
“Very excited to have got this amazing opportunity. It’s any players dream to move towards OWL” said Kelsey after the announcement. “The Esports High Performance Centre and all the team have been fantastic and I can’t wait to represent everyone from back home, overseas”.
“Developing Australian and New Zealand esports talent is at the core of our model and we are thrilled that our development pathway has progressed a number of players across Overwatch and League of Legends into the next level of competition.” said David Harris, Managing Director of Guinevere Capital Esports & Entertainment.
Sydney Drop Bears have been an unstoppable force throughout the Overwatch Contenders season without dropping a game. They are up against Kanga Esports in the semi-finals tomorrow.
The Overwatch Contenders Final will take place at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne this Saturday from 11AM during the Melbourne Esports Open – tickets are available here.
