Match 1: Legs Are Silly def. Retirement Home
Result: 3-2

A cracking opening contest between Legs Are Silly and Retirement Home went all the way to a fifth game, with Retirement Home starting strongly after taking the opening two games. With the chance to cement their first series win of the competition, Retirement Home buckled under the pressure and couldn’t score during the subsequent two matches, allowing newcomers Legs Are Silly to bring it back to 2-2. A close fifth match saw the latter take the series win in what was the best comeback of the day.

Results:
Game 1: 2-1 to Retirement Home
Game 2: 3-2 to Retirement Home
Game 3: 2-0 to Legs Are Silly
Game 4: 5-0 to Legs Are Silly
Game 5: 3-2 to Legs Are Silly

Match 2: Tainted Minds def. Retirement Home
Result: 3-0

After a hugely disappointing result against JAM Gaming last weekend, Tainted Minds came out swinging in their matchup against Retirement Home, winning all of the games to grab a sweet clean sweep against their opponents. Games 1 and 2 were very close, only being decided by a single goal a piece, giving the side a well-deserved win in the competition. Retirement Home will be disappointed with their performance this weekend, after two very disappointing displays.

Results:
Game 1: 1-0 to Tainted Minds
Game 2: 6-3 to Tainted Minds
Game 3: 1-0 to Tainted Minds

Match 3: Chiefs ESC def. Tainted Minds
Result: 3-0

Chiefs didn’t pull any punches in this match, clean sweeping Tainted Minds with relative ease. Jake, Drippay, and Torsos were clinical in their approach against their opponents, capitalising on small mistakes to see out what was a dominant display. It’s worth noting that the first and third game were close ones, once again, though Chiefs were just too strong for a Tainted Minds side who will be disappointed with how they played.

Results:
Game 1: 2-1 to Chiefs ESC
Game 2: 4-1 to Chiefs ESC
Game 3: 3-2 to Chiefs ESC

Match 4: Chiefs ESC def. JAM Gaming
Result: 3-0

Following on from a huge win against Tainted Minds last weekend, JAM Gaming came in with confidence that they were going to push Chiefs all the way in this contest. It just wasn’t to be, though, as Chiefs managed back-to-back clean sweeps and closed out any chance of a JAM series win. This Chiefs side is looking the real deal, and JAM couldn’t do too much to affect the result.

Results:
Game 1: 2-0 to Chiefs ESC
Game 2: 3-0 to Chiefs ESC
Game 3: 2-1 to Chiefs ESC

Match 5: Dark Sided def. JAM Gaming
Result: 3-1

After a big loss in the series against Chiefs, JAM came into their game against Dark Sided hoping for a better result. The first game was no such thing. After being trounced 7-0 in Game 1 by Dark Sided — the biggest win of the day — JAM managed to regain themselves and take the next game 4-3 in a close contest. However, Dark Sided played well in the following two matches to win fairly convincingly and take the series win. Game 4 was a nail biter, with a slew of chances falling for either side. In the end, Dark Sided will be happy with the result as they follow Chiefs on the ladder as one of the only sides to remain undefeated in overall series results in League Play so far.

Results:
Game 1: 7-0 to Dark Sided
Game 2: 4-3 to JAM Gaming
Game 3: 2-0 to Dark Sided
Game 4: 5-4 to Dark Sided

Match 6: Legacy Esports def. Love Decks
Result: 3-1

After a wonderful showing last week, Legacy Esports once again showed their potential in a tight matchup against Love Decks. Legacy took the first two games, though they were both close, before being beaten in the third game to take the series to a fourth game. It was there that Legacy truly flourished, winning in convincing fashion to join Chiefs and Dark Sided at the apex of the ladder.

Results:
Game 1: 2-0 to Legacy Esports
Game 2: 1-0 to Legacy Esports
Game 3: 2-1 to Love Decks
Game 4: 6-1 to Legacy Esports

Final Thoughts

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the whole weekend was to see so many clean sweeps, which was unexpected! That said, the big winners of this round of League Play would have to be Chiefs, who are really coming into form at the right time. I’m keen to see how they keep that momentum going over the next couple of weeks. We’re slowly starting to see the ladder take shape, and next weekend’s action should be fascinating!
