Looks like the end of the Uncharted series will not be coming in 2015 after all. In a post on the US PlayStation Blog, Uncharted 4 Game Directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley confirmed that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will not be launching in 2015, instead setting a release window of Q2 2016 for the highly anticipated title.

“After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly – this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for,“ Neil Druckmann said in the post. “We know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.”

Delaying a game is difficult for all parties involved. From those involved in the creation of the game, to the audience waiting to get their hands on it, it’s always difficult to stomach especially considering how many titles were delayed in 2014. Naughty Dog have a track record of making superb titles and are highly regarded as one of the best developers in the industry at the moment, so what’s clear is that come Spring 2016, Uncharted 4 should be ready to go without any issues or problems whatsoever.

What’s a bit alarming, however, is that with this delay comes the uncertainty of what Sony will have on offer come Q3/4 this year. An exclusive AAA title will be needed to take on Rise of The Tomb Raider and Halo 5, or else sales will surely sky rocket in favor of Xbox. With much to be announced at E3 this year, all we can really do is wait and see what happens in both camps.
