Today, YouTube has announced it has added support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) videos. If you didn’t know what HDR is, it allows videos to have a higher contrast with a wide colour gamut for a more detailed shadows, image vibrancy and clarity.
If you have a supported TV or device, you can start streaming YouTube video in HDR now. Creators can also start uploading HDR content from today. YouTube has released a tutorial on how to upload HDR videos here.
This week, Sony is also releasing the PlayStation 4 Pro which supports HDR and with many devices support HDR content – we’ll soon see mainstream TVs and Monitors support the technology.
